MEET MARCO

Marco is a small business owner, husband, and father of two future CUSD students. He and his wife run a health and wellness company and are proud to call Laguna Niguel home.

He's lived and studied around the world and across the country, speaks three languages, and has worked in both the private and public sectors, from car factories to state capitols. Marco earned two BA degrees from the University of Maryland, and has held multiple academic fellowships.

Marco is active in his church, and has been involved across South County in civic programs including the Orange County Sheriff's Department Citizens Academy. He has twice participated in CUSD's Principal for a Day program, onsite at John Malcom Elementary in Laguna Niguel and Las Palmas Elementary in San Clemente.

Now he's running for CUSD Trustee, Area 4, because he wants his kids, and all Area 4 kids, to get an excellent public education in schools with a family-first culture and top-tier facilities free from environmental toxins. He is ready to bring Area 4 the new leadership, energy, and ideas it needs.

WHY MARCO

Marco will be the only father of young children — and the first millennial — on the CUSD Board, giving him both a firsthand understanding of the challenges and aspirations of young families in Area 4, and the energy to learn from and serve the families with years of experience in the district.

Marco's business and public sector consulting experience equip him to help the board navigate the big issues facing CUSD that stand to impact Area 4 families: declining enrollment and a serious budget deficit. He'll bring the speed, openness to new ideas, and collaborative approach of a small business owner to exploring solutions that reattract enrollment, and a public sector consultant's financial and grants management expertise to budgetary planning and operations.

He's committed to ensuring his kids, and the kids of his friends, neighbors, and families all over Laguna Niguel, have an excellent public education that prepares them to be capable citizens who lead happy, healthy lives.

As trustee, Marco will be accessible, visible on campuses, and quick to communicate with the parents, faculty, and staff who together shape the five elementary schools and one middle school that make up Area 4.

PRIORITIES

  • Academic Excellence

Center every classroom on reading, writing, math, and critical thinking — the foundational skills students need to thrive in a changing world.

  • Student Safety & Healthy Schools

Safe campuses and full transparency on facilities and environmental conditions to ensure all students, faculty and staff have access to healthy food, pure water, and classrooms and campuses free from harmful toxins.

  • Parental Transparency

Parents should know all details and be involved in all matters pertaining to their child — academic, personal, and otherwise — in full partnership with faculty and staff.

  • Classroom-First Budgeting

Invest resources in classrooms, strengthen the programs and staff that drive student success, and drive budget transparency for families while working to reverse enrollment declines.

  • Accessibility

Be the most visible, responsive Trustee Area 4 has had: regular office hours, fast communication, and a board member parents and staff can reach face-to-face and digitally.
